Regional Director London M&E contracting - JustEng Recruitment

πŸ“ London   πŸ’² Β£130,000 – Β£180,000 DOE + car allowance, bonus, healthcare and death in service   🀝 Genuine equity and partnership potential

Most Regional Director roles in London M&E contracting are one of two things: a caretaker seat on somebody else’s client book, or a blank sheet of paper and good luck. This one is neither.

JustEng is recruiting a Regional Director – London to lead the London business of a well-established UK M&E contracting group. London is not a start-up here. There is a settled senior team in place, a mature portfolio of tier-two clients, and a long track record of delivering London projects with an average value of Β£10m–£15m. The Group’s ambition is to build the region on towards Β£40m–£60m turnover β€” but it starts from a real business with real clients, not from zero.

What makes this role different

  • You inherit a business, not a brief. The client relationships already exist and they are strong. The first job is to protect and deepen them, not to go hunting for a pipeline.
  • The business development is relationship-led. The realistic expectation is to add a couple of good new clients a year on top of the existing portfolio β€” not to carry a cold-call target.
  • Equity and partnership are genuinely on the table. This is an owner-managed business with a real succession picture, and the right person has a route into it. Happy to talk that through properly on a call.
  • People leave the office at 5.30pm. This is an unusually well-organised contractor. For a Β£130,000–£180,000 leadership role in London M&E, that is rare enough to say out loud.
  • A rising star is actively wanted. If you are the strong number two in a larger M&E contractor and ready for your first business unit, you will be taken seriously here. This is not a seat reserved for people who already hold the title.

The role

  • Full ownership of the London business unit β€” turnover, profitability, cash and forward order book β€” reporting to the Group Board.
  • Own and develop the existing tier-two client relationships, and represent the business at senior level with contractors, developers and consultants.
  • Add a small number of well-chosen new clients each year, and lead the pursuit and negotiation of major M&E opportunities.
  • Lead, retain and grow the London team, and build the operational, commercial and pre-construction structure the next phase of growth needs.
  • Strategic oversight of major London projects β€” typically Β£10m–£15m in value β€” with proper governance across programme, cost, quality, risk and safety.
  • Develop and manage the regional budget and business plan, working with Group commercial and finance on reporting and controls.
  • Set the culture: accountable, collaborative and commercially sharp, with the discipline of an established contractor behind it.

What we are looking for

  • A senior leader from M&E contracting with a London track record β€” Regional Director, Operations Director or Divisional Director, or a strong Operations Manager, Contracts Director or Commercial Director ready to step up.
  • Commercial and financial confidence: P&L, margin, cash and working capital, not delivery alone.
  • A credible network among London contractors, developers and consultants, particularly around tier-two clients.
  • Demonstrable experience winning and delivering significant M&E projects, ideally in the Β£10m-plus range.
  • Real experience of recruiting, developing and keeping good people.
  • A working understanding of pre-construction, estimating, design, procurement and project delivery.
  • Personable and collaborative. The client has been explicit about this: they want someone the team wants to work for and clients want to keep. Commercial ability alone will not carry the role.
  • Right to work in the UK.

What is on offer

  • Β£130,000 – Β£180,000 basic depending on experience
  • Excellent performance-based bonus
  • Car allowance
  • Private healthcare and death in service cover
  • Genuine potential for equity and partnership over time
  • An established, profitable London business with Group financial backing behind it
  • A well-run office where the working day genuinely ends at 5.30pm

About the client
